MDC Alliance president Nelson Chamisa on Thursday appointed Lawyer and activist, Fadzayi Mahere his party’s spokesperson.
She replaces incumbent Daniel Molekole and will be deputised by Felix Mafa.
The appointment leaves in the cold, long time servant and journalist Luke Tamborinyoka. Tamborinyoka, who served the party since the days of late founder Morgan Tsvangirai was until Thursday the deputy to Molekole.
Mahere said she was “humbled and excited”.
“I take on this responsibility bearing in mind the huge task ahead as the alliance begins to reshape the narrative,” said Mahere.
“We shall ensure the position of our party in all things political, social and economic is made clear and easily accessible for citizens to understand and partner.
“All hands on deck.”
Party secretary general Charlton Hwende said the appointments were presidential and informed by “the desire to strengthen the party”.
“And also I am sure that you are aware that there are some developments that have occured in the national standing committee. Some members of the standing committee have left, the likes of Honourable Senator (Douglas) Mwonzora, Mr Morgan Komichi… so definitely there are some gaps that needed to be filled.
“From time to time the president looks at his team with a view of strengthening it and making it more efficient,” said Hwende.
