Zimbabwe’s Covid-19 cases jump to 132
The number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Zimbabwe has risen to 132, with 76 new cases recorded in Beitbridge, Masvingo and Harare.
Government spokesperson Nick Mangwana wrote on his Twitter handle that 75 of the new cases were imported from South Africa and Botswana. One new case is a local transmission.
“Zimbabwe’s Covid-19 positive cases have now spiked to 132,” said Mangwana.
“The 76 new cases have been recorded in the Beitbridge, Masvingo and Harare. All new cases except one have been registered among returnees from mainly South Africa and Botswana. Only one case is a local transmission.”
Meanwhile, Mangwana also dismissed an audio recording circulating on social media alleging that Zimbabwean schools would open Monday.
“That is incorrect. Consultations are still ongoing and actual dates for all schools,” Mangwana said.
