The power of focus

Is it true that our lips were created to worship God? I believe it is true. But what then comes out from our lips? Is that the way we honour God? Of course not! We decorate our lips and fail to register what comes out of them. Isn’t it better to have dry lips, but have a beautiful voice that lives to honour God? No wonder why it is written in the Bible that, “These people Honour me with their lips…”, Matthew 15:8a.

We are these people! With their hearts centered somewhere else. No wonder why they say, from the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh! How can we speak of honouring God, when our hearts are filled with curiosity, systemization, tradition, confusion, fear, vulnerability; and nothing to do with God? Why are our hearts far away from God? Don’t we have enough reasons to pour our hearts on Him? Isn’t He the Creator of Heavens and the sustainer of our lives? How about learning to love Him and giving our hearts into His hands? And the Bible goes on to say, “…but their hearts are far from me”, Matthew 15:8b.

It is indeed a fact that our heart is far from Him, but that does not change the fact that we worship Him. Yes we worship Him, in the morning, afternoon and even in the evening. Why do we worship Him everyday? It means, tomorrow we are going to receive a crown for it; an achievers award; and same as today. What an investment! What a way of life! Would we want lose this vision, because we simply failed to carefully concentrate and putting our hearts together for the Glory of God? And the Bible goes on to say, “They worship me in vain….”, Matthew 15:9a.

If we are acting and our hearts far from Him and at the same time worshiping in vain. Then what are we doing? And where is our concentration? One wise man, then once said, “Our rules were well developed to become rights, rights that sustains us in our wellbeings”. Is this where our focus is now? Like money, without it you can’t buy and like rights, without them you can’t live?

In simplicity and according to the site below: Rules provide a sense of predictability and consistency for children, thereby promoting physical and emotional safety. Rules help guide actions toward desired results. Predictable and safe life! Is that the life we live? Or strive to live? As a way of achieving certain desires? Like rights to life and liberty, freedom from slavery and torture, freedom of option and expression and the right to work and education and so on…

What would be your reactions if you are told that most of the sins of life are found in the concept of “Liberty” in life? And is slavery and torture part of our DNA and way of survival? And would it be shocking to say many people died in the process of expressing their freedom of expression? And one day I laughed, when it came to my mind that on average we spend more 20 years of our life at school and about 40 years of working and that’s it! Would reading the Bible compete with this busy schedule? This life is like a business. It is so busy, before we even become busy. Would a Christian survive, in such an environment?

As people we are doing all we can, to understand ourselves, protect ourselves and predict our destiny. But! Are we doing enough to safeguard our relationship with God? Or we only remember God when we are now resting from our busy schedules? The Bible goes on to say;

“But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Matthew 6:33. Are you sure we are seeking the Kingdom first? Or we are busy adding our gatherings everyday only going to God to thank his for the gatherings or even asking him for more gatherings?

Ladies and Gentlemen, let us not be too busy to seek the Kingdom of God, although we were born in a busy and fast world. But! Slow down, seek the presence of God and live in it! Because, Him alone gives us the real time, its benefits and the true teachings of life.

The Bible, goes on to say, “…their teachings are merely human rules”, Matthew 15:9 b. I believe we can do better than this, since most of the times we don’t have even small solutions to our big problems.

But unto God! All problems are small. As it is written:

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

“But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31

Ladies and Gentlemen! Let us disconnect from the unconnected and connect to God our Father and the true meaning of Life, in the Mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen
