The surge in Covid-19 cases in South Africa, the empty stands and boardroom squabbles could not deter the Proteas from upsetting their visitors Sri Lanka in the Betway Test Series. Played at Wanderers Stadium and ending on Tuesday, the Proteas registered a hefty 10-wicket win. This was South Africa’s first home win since dismissing Pakistan 3-0 two years ago. Proteas captain Quinton de Kock led the team to a 2-0 win this time around while batsman Dean Elgar received the player of the match and player of the series awards.
